FlexBIT

Electrum is the leader of a Polish consortium participating in the international FlexBIT project under the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETPartnership). The project is carried out in collaboration with partners from Malta, Greece, Poland, Italy, and Germany.

Within the project, we are developing an innovative digital platform for energy management in microgrids, enterprises, and energy communities. This represents an upcoming revolution in the management of energy in industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and residential complexes.

The FlexBIT platform will be used for data collection and management of distributed energy resources that can respond flexibly to energy balancing needs within a microgrid (e.g., a company) as well as the distribution network. This includes renewable energy sources, energy storage systems, and loads (such as production machinery in enterprises) that can be activated, deactivated, or reduced as needed.

As a result, the platform will enable more efficient energy balancing, congestion management, and improved self-consumption within energy communities and microgrids.

Electrum’s Role in FlexBIT

The Electrum team is responsible for designing the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) system and preparing operational rules in compliance with applicable regulations. We will also ensure that all system components work together smoothly, verify proper functionality, and finally demonstrate the system in real operational conditions.

The Polish demonstrators will be the Alu-Frost production facility and the Electrum headquarters (serving as an example of a multi-level office building with a 24/7 control center and server room).

We believe the FlexBIT project will contribute to the creation of scalable solutions that enhance the operation of local energy systems and, ultimately, support the decarbonization of Europe.
