Electrum to Execute One of Poland’s Largest Photovoltaic Projects Using Solar Trackers

Electrum Group, a Climate Tech company from Białystok, is set to construct a 21 MW solar farm for R.Power. The installation will be located in Osów, Lubusz Voivodeship. This project is poised to become one of the largest photovoltaic undertakings in Poland, employing solar trackers provided by Solar Steel.

The construction of the Osów farm represents the most significant joint project undertaken by Electrum Group, which operates in the energy sector in Central and Eastern Europe, and R.Power, an energy producer with a presence in Poland, Romania, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Electrum has previously designed, executed, and launched solar installations with a combined capacity of over 150 MW for this company within Poland.

The latest venture of both companies will incorporate innovative technologies. The project will feature Electrum’s unique proprietary solution, Renedium 1.0, a system for active and reactive power regulation that collaborates with various types of power generation units. This regulator will facilitate centralized energy production control, irrespective of source type, capacity, location, and complexity. Furthermore, with the innovative technology provided by Solar Steel’s TracSmarT+ 1V solar trackers, the photovoltaic farm in Osów will optimize energy production compared to fixed structures.

– Our goal is to accelerate the transformation of the energy system, so we maximize the energy generated in RES facilities, thus increasing the investor’s profits. This is possible thanks to the latest technologies available on the market, authored by us and our collaborating manufacturers – emphasizes Rafał Wiszejko, Project Manager at Electrum Group. – The Osów photovoltaic farm is another investment that we have carried out for R.Power in recent years. Our collaboration is running smoothly and, we believe, inspiring for both parties Rafał Wiszejko concludes.

It is estimated that the installation in Osów will generate energy annually equivalent to the energy consumed by around 7,000 households, thereby avoiding emissions of over 4,200 tons of carbon dioxide.

R.Power S.A. covers the entire value chain of the solar energy sector, including the development of photovoltaic power plant projects, photovoltaic power plant construction (Engineering Procurement & Construction), power plant servicing (Operations & Maintenance), and green energy production (Independent Power Producer). The company is currently developing a portfolio of over 8.3 GWp of photovoltaic assets and has a low-risk project portfolio (built, under construction, or ready for construction) with a capacity of around 0.9 GWp.

Electrum to Build Poland’s First Solar-Wind Hybrid Power Plant for Lewandpol Group

The hybrid solar-wind power plant with a total connected capacity of 205 MW, owned by Lewandpol Group, is the latest project undertaken by the Polish engineering and technology group, Electrum. Electrum’s compensation for the work is estimated at around PLN 500 million, and the project is being carried out on former mining land in the Kleczew municipality in the Greater Poland Voivodeship. In addition to the photovoltaic and wind farm, the investment will eventually include an energy storage facility.

The scope of tasks for which the Białystok-based Electrum Group is responsible encompasses project planning, construction, installation, and system assembly. Three companies within the Electrum Group, namely Electrum Concreo, Electrum Solutions, and Electrum Ventures, are involved in the implementation of the Kleczew Solar & Wind farm. Key suppliers for this extraordinary project include Jinko Solar, Huawei, Budmat, and Tele-Fonika Kable. This unique project was prepared by E&G from Lewandpol Group as the investor and Ergy as the asset manager.

– This is a strategic project for us and a step towards decarbonizing the Polish economy. Together with the Ergy team, we paid particular attention to selecting the most advanced technological solutions and involving experienced Polish companies in the supply chain. That’s why we decided to collaborate with Electrum as the general contractor and engage Jinko Solar, Huawei, Budmat, and Tele-Fonika Kable as significant suppliers – said Andrzej Lewandowski, CEO of Lewandpol Holding.

– The realization of such a large and innovative project requires the cooperation of all stakeholders – banks, independent advisors, contractors, technology suppliers, public administration, and landowners. As the entity managing the Kleczew Solar & Wind investment, we have the pleasure of working with all stakeholders and ensuring the most efficient project implementation – noted Marcin Kuprel, CEO of Ergy.

The execution of such a complex project by a general contractor offers a range of benefits to the investor. They don’t have to deal with the fragmentation of tasks assigned to various subcontractors during different phases of the investment. Any concerns or issues are directed to a single entity responsible for the schedule and the quality of work as defined in the GW agreement.

We are the first Polish contractor for this type of hybrid RES power plant. The project aligns with our philosophy of paving the way and delivering solutions that can revolutionize the green energy system and accelerate the energy transformation – said Tomasz Taff, Chief Commercial Officer and Member of the Board at Electrum Concreo. – The new installation will allow for energy source diversification by supplementing solar energy with wind energy and vice versa, depending on local weather conditions Tomasz Taff summarized.

This is a significant realization, not only for our group but also one of the largest of its kind in Poland – assessed Kamil Kozicki, Project Manager at Electrum Concreo. In the project, we want to implement our unique solution, the active and reactive power regulation system cooperating with various types of power generation units – the Renedium regulator. It will facilitate energy production control in one place, regardless of source type, capacity, location, and complexity, which is of paramount importance for hybrid power plants – added Kamil Kozicki.

In the first phase of the investment, the photovoltaic power plant will be equipped with 710 chain inverters from Huawei, 23 Huawei transformer stations, and over 345,000 n-type photovoltaic modules supplied by Jinko Solar. The project also includes active and reactive power regulation, as well as Huawei inverters for intelligent management of the photovoltaic power plant by collecting and analyzing data from each chain. Alongside the construction of the photovoltaic farm, wind turbines are also planned to be added, and in the future, a battery energy storage facility. Additionally, Electrum Group is building GPO Sławoszewek and a more than 7-kilometer high-voltage line connecting the installation to GPZ Pątnów.

The completion of the first phase of the investment, which is the construction of the solar farm, is scheduled for the second half of 2023, while the wind farm is set to be established in 2024. The construction of the energy storage facility is planned for a later stage of the project.
